Michaela Suliman serves The New England Center for Children (NECC) as Manager of Special Events. Located in Southborough, Massachusetts, NECC is a nonprofit center that provides specialized treatment and research concerning children with autism and other related disabilities. Michaela Suliman acts as the organization’s point of contact for questions regarding its Annual “A Night of Music” fundraiser gala, held in Boston (www.neccnom.org), and coordinates a variety of other fundraising events including golf tournaments and cultivation events. Proceeds from the school’s Annual “A Night of Music” will go toward NECC’s Annual Fund, which works to close the growing gap between student tuition and the operating costs of treating autism and related disabilities, while also meeting the needs of students and staff.
Prior to assuming her current role with the NECC, Michaela Suliman worked as a Sourcing Associate for the Calvin Klein men’s sports wear clothing line at PVH Corp. (Phillips-Van Heusen). In this position, Ms. Suliman assisted managerial staff with production activities. Some of her duties included maintaining price charts, working with sales and design to negotiate overseas contracts with vendors to ensure margins and deadlines were met, as well as quality control approving product before mass production, reviewing weekly production summaries, and negotiating prices with overseas factories. Ms. Suliman regularly attended production meetings and performed vendor performance analyses as well.
Michaela Suliman attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Minor in Government in May 2005. Prior to enrolling in undergraduate courses at Georgetown, she completed a year of pre-college study at Phillips Academy, where she participated in varsity field hockey. Also active in school activities as a high school student at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Massachusetts, Ms. Suliman earned a place on her high school’s varsity skiing, lacrosse, and field hockey teams and acted as Chairperson of student-run organization Campuses Against Cancer. Outside of her duties at the NECC, she enjoys staying fit through running or other physical exercise and pursuing her interests in photography, travel, and volunteerism.
